You mean this isn't a photo? I'm in shock. Looking at your other work (just saw Gollum) I'm convinced your portraits are the most realistic pieces of digital art I've seen on DA, and, well, anywhere.

First I had to peer closer to the screen, then I had to actually read your description before I decided it wasn't a photo. In fact, I'm still not sure. :p

Yes everything is drawn by hand except for the background which is a simple color gradient. I always try to draw everything I can see on the reference photos but you never can draw the hair for example exactly as the original photo. I think this would be the part with most changes.
